Dr AJ Contento was born and raised in the Bronx, NY. He attended PS 71, Our Lady Of The Assumption, Cardinal Spellman HS, Fordham University, and SUNY College of Optometry.
His passions are family, optometry, baseball, scouting and religion. Dr AJ Contento married Dr Annette Contento in 1989 and they are blessed with 4 children, Michael, Marissa, Robert and Jacqueline.
Dr. Contento, an Assistant Clinical Professsor at the Laser Eye Institute, graduated with honors in 1990 from the SUNY State College of Optometry. He was honored at SUNY with the #1 in Clinical Excellence for 1990. During his doctorate program he did an externship at the St. Albans Veterans Medical Center and a Residency at the North Port Veteran Medical Center specializing in ocular disease. Dr Contento is an active lecturer and published Doctor for SUNY.
Following optometry school, Dr. Contento went into private practice in the Bronx, New York where he currently has two office locations, Crosby Avenue and Morris Park Avenue with Dr Evan Kaplan and Dr Annette Contento.
Dr. Contento feels his technical knowledge of the LASIK Zyoptix diagnostic and laser equipment, as well as his insight into his patients visual needs, allows him to provide patients, and professionals with the most extensive resources available for laser refractive surgery management.
Dr AJ Contento is very active in the management of Lasik, PRK, and Custom laser procedures. He also is a certified Glaucoma and Ocular disease Optometrist.
Cataracts, Macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy and all forms of Eye Irritation and treated in our office. Dry Eyes are treated with drops, gels and punctual occlusion. Glasses and Contact lenses are routinely prescribed. Dr Contento is very proud of his practice and encourages patients to ask existing patients about their care.
